4+ years

Where else have you lived:

North Carolina, Michigan, then back to NC

School Story:

Too long ago to remember specifics.

Comments:

I had to retire in 2018 due to mold illness that I contracted while on the job. It was melting my brain. Became a virtual doctor as I slowly healed. Continue to heal each day.
Took care of lots of COVID patients across the country when it hit.
Finishing book about turning from being a physician to a full time patient. Got treatment, I am doing well now. Got breast cancer along the way.
Life is better than ever with my husband, Michael Hooks.
We ballroom dance regularly
I have a great set of friends and colleagues. And a wonderful cat.

What do you like to do in your spare time:

Hike, strength train, cycle, cook healthy fun food, listen to music, attend concerts and live theater. Active in our church.

What did you always want to do that you have not done yet:

Finish my book about my transition from MD to patient and back again.
Book will be out later this summer. TOXIC No More, An Integrative Physician's Path to Healing. It's about being born with mercury toxicity. I did not have a Prozac deficiency; I was mercury toxic. Had to learn about toxic metals and did IV chelation to get the mercury out. Then I stopped being depressed and overeating, divorced my abusive husband, dropped 30 pounds, and embraced my new life. All this happened in 2006 or thereabouts. Kept practicing medicine and offering chelation to patients until mold took me down in 2017.

What would we be surprised to know about you:

I now weigh 120 and HAVE to eat to maintain my weight. I crested at 173 in junior year at HHS. Struggled with my weight for decades. Just the opposite now. All got better when I got mercury out of my body.

Any words of wisdom:

Embrace each day...each illness, each business loss, each bad lab result, each and every "loss" as a blessing. Make lots of lemonade out of lemons, regularly. It is the only way to thrive when you experience full catastrophe living.

Who will always know how to contact you? Please send their full name, address, phone numbers to the website administrator for future reference.
